The Office of News Affairs is currently looking for individuals who possess strong writing skills. Through the “Home To Stay Furniture Donation Program” the Chicago Department of Human Services and the Salvation Army are soliciting donations of Beds, Sofas, Dinette Sets and Dressers. Leadership Training Retired Delta Force Operator, Master Sergeant Paul Howe, will be speaking on Small Unit Leadership in the multipurpose room at Headquarters on Tuesday, 24 Jun. 08, from 1000-1400 hours. Howe was with “Task Force Ranger” in the Battle of Mogadishu. He is now one of the most sought after firearms and tactical instructors in the United States and author of the book, Leadership and Training for the Fight. All Department members are invited to attend this great opportunity and Paul will be available for book purchase and signing. CHAPLAINS CORNER

A Fathers Day Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 15 Jun., 1000 hours in our own park just east of Soldier Field: the Chicago Police Memorial/Gold Star Families Park. Bring a lawn chair to sit on. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day afterwards in a beautiful space dedicated to the CPD. All police families are warmly welcomed. On Friday, 6 Jun. & Saturday 7 Jun., the Salvation Army will hold their Annual Donut Day throughout Chicagoland. Volunteers will be out in the streets taking cash donations for this two day event. Officers are reminded to pay attention to the safety of volunteers in the streets taking money and money transfers. Volunteers may not be in Salvation Army uniform, but will have a copy of the city permit with them.
